How long have you been blogging?
Oh, so long!! My first blog was called Cottage Magpie, and I started it way waaaaaay back in December of 2006, can you believe it? That blog has been archived here and my first post was about my Christmas ornaments that year.
How do you do it all?
The short answer is that I don’t. Some things get done and some things don’t, and compared to many bloggers I move at a glacial pace with my projects. Aside from just eliminating other things that take up your time (TV, Facebook, *ahem* cleaning *ahem*) the best suggestion I have is to stop making lists and follow your inspiration.
What camera do you use?
When I first started, I used a little $150 Nikon, and it took great photos. I was very happy with it and many, many, many of the photos here are from that camera. In 2008 I decided I wanted to try upgrading, and bought a Nikon 850 SLR. Loved it and used it for many years. In 2017 after doing some test shoots I feel in love with my husband’s Canon T2i and swapped him for my Nikon. I love it and now is my preferred camera.
What lenses do you use?
For shooting rooms and landscapes I generally use a fixed 35mm lens. For anything closer I use my “nifty fifty” fixed 50mm lens. Love them both. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to the kit lens that came with m y camera. However, every so often I’m shooting something where the 35mm isn’t quite wide enough, and for that I do use a kit lens, but a vintage one that my husband found that’s sharper than the one that came with my camera.
How many houses have you fixed up?
So far, my current home is my third fixer-upper. I hope to have more! You can see them all on the Home Tour page.
