I am so excited! Look what came in the mail! I splurged and bought an actual 1800’s antique quilt off of eBay. I don’t usually love quilts from this era because they are so BROWN (not my favorite color). But this one is so cheerful with the chrome yellow and double pink fabrics that I couldn’t help myself. And guess what? I even love the madder brown LeMoyne Star motif when it’s surrounded by pink and yellow.
The quilt is completely hand-stitched and hand-quilted with a plain muslin backing and “self binding” out of the same muslin.
I feel so fortunate to have this gorgeous piece of history. It doesn’t even seem like it’s been used!
One teeny, weeny problem. Now that I have this beautiful quilt, I don’t think I have the heart to use it either! It will get wrecked at my house. Maybe someday I can do a replica that I CAN use. I will probably give this one away at some point, but meanwhile it’s fun to see and enjoy it here.
