For years I have been wanting to make a rag garland. I have been saving quilting scraps for ever, the last bits of any given fabric from any given project, and stuffing them in a box.

I have to admit I’d been avoiding this project for ages because I thought it would take a reaaaaaaally long time to finish it. But then a couple of weeks ago I decided I either had to do it or toss the scraps and guess what? Once I started it only took a couple of hours. (Tutorial: How to Make a Scrappy Fabric Rag Garland)

I didn’t worry too much about creating a color palette. I just grabbed anything that appealed to me and threw it all in there. It was all scrap so nothing to lose. But the joke is on me because it worked perfectly!

I love that the fabrics are all from previous projects so it’s kind of like a garland of memories as well as being colorful.

That’s it!

I’m really pleased with how this room is turning out. I feel like I’m finally starting to get a handle on what makes me happy in a space.

I’ve got a list of all the projects, tutorials and inspiration posts at the following:
